He has huge upside.

VOLS look to be actively targeting more kids from Alabama than we have in some time. Tough to get the hyper elite kids out of the state, but there's so many good athlete's down there I like the idea of putting feelers out to gauge interest.

Really like this pick up. Has it been mentioned what position they envision him playing?

I would be kind of surprised if Beckwith ever plays basketball. I know they have said he will have the option but he is more of a mid major type basketball player from what I understand. Probably goes out there and plays with them some in the summer but I don't think he'll ever suit up.

Wideman has a real chance of getting some minutes in basketball and sounds like the basketball staff really wanted him.

Lol I understand that but if he is a mid major type prospect at best and isn't even going to be with the team until January it doesn't make much sense. They aren't going to use 2 walk on spots on basketball players when one isn't an SEC level player.

Wideman is a legitimate SEC basketball prospect and I think it will even be challenging for him.

Disapointed he didn't follow his older beckwith brothers, ah well I'm over it : ) baseball season here we go
