He is up to 243 lbs and is reporting he hasn't lost any speed. Chief did a great job of evaluating and recruiting him.
He may be the one freshman that can come in and start this year.

Also two guys who signed with Yale. Is the team usually made up of prospects across the board?

Yes, Chief did a great job wrestling him away from Arkansas and Missouri (his two biggest offers). Strange that he wasn't offered by either local school - Tenn or Vanderbilt.

He told a bunch of schools that he wasn't looking around, so they didn't officially offer. I think his low star ranking is partly because of his "no drama" recruitment. Often kids who commit early and don't go to the elite camps to get recognized just disappear off of the radar. This used to be the case for many of the LA prospects.

Its definitely true that kids who don't go to camps generally don't get accurately rated by the scouting services - but that doesn't usually stop schools from offering - especially in state schools.
Dodson didn't commit until June - so its not like he was a long-time commit who had made his decision after his Sophomore season. In state schools aren't usually scared off by commitments to OOS schools.
Dodson's best offers were Missouri, Arkansas, and then a shite load of directional schools.
