Gamecocks recruiting tear continues as top in-state receiver commits to South Carolina

From the moment Greenville (S.C.) class of 2024 four-star ATH Mazeo Bennett decommitted from Tennessee in December, it seemed like only a matter of time before he joined the Gamecocks class.
That day is today as the high-priority South Carolina football target announced his pledge to the Gamecocks.
The commitment is the result of the long-time pursuit of South Carolina wide receivers coach Justin Stepp who offered Bennett in October of 2021 making South Carolina the first Power 5 school to offer the big-play receiver.

Beamer goin crazy
He's the top receiver in the state. A 4* recruit in Clemson's back yard (Greenville) and they haven't even offered? It's almost like Dabo's TRYING to scuttle the ship...

Dabo is neglecting the state to his own detriment. If you wanna go full national, that's fine, but you'll alienate a lot of HS coaches and players that could be very productive for you. Bama always has Alabama kids on the roster. Same for UGa/Georgia. Clemson is playing a game that Beamer and company are likely happy to continue.
Welcome aboard, Bennett.

Three years ago, it made sense. After the past two seasons, you have to re-evaluate that stance. Add to the the fact that Clemson is VERY reluctant to take transfers out of the portal, and it doesn't bode well for the tigers with regards to roster management.

Beamer doing work.
We're still not really sure what we have from an Xs and Os standpoint, as he's won games he shouldn't, and lost games he shouldn't.
But from a culture-building perspective and an ability to sell the program, he's the best we've ever had.
Holtz sold himself, as did Spurrier (until we had an identity, which, non-confidentially was concurrent with Beamer being recruiting coordinator), and Muschamp sold the ability to get to the NFL.
Beamer has a program. His predecessors really didn't.

Well, with anything in football its about the Jimmy and Joe's first, then the other comes thru.
Good to see Beamer getting some attention.
