2020 Class is shaping up nicely ...

Sheesh I saw her today (this morning) in person ... she is just beyond incredible.

I really like how mUSChamp is continuing to build his recruiting staff. I know this is probably not going to go over well, but I spoke with a buddy of mine I used to work with at Rivals and Scout who is now at 24/7 and he is not a Gamecock fan but he said mUSChamp has quietly assembled a dream team recruiting staff. Not just the coaches (and he seemed to think the two additions mUSChamp made at RB and DL were big) but moreso the support staff.

The Jesse Jackson girl he hired from Bama a few years ago is really paying dividends, and there have been others ... but this young lady Jasmin, she had offers from schools all over the Southeast.

She's a Gamecock grad so we had the upper hand.

This is how it's going in this conference. I hope everyone is on board and playing the game. (Just not as well as mUSChamp is going to play it.)

I saw this play out at UGA .... and it didnt go well.

Did you show her your caboose?

No, but I first saw her walk in while I was up top checking my tarp.

Then I asked one of the crew walking in who she was .... because, in person, she looks and walks like a runway model and had everybody’s head turning.

He told me who she was and that he thought she was about to join JJ on the recruiting staff. He came out later and said they had named her to the staff and they had taken some pictures and he said everyone was drooling over her. She has a really nice bubbly personality.

Then I met some of the old guys for lunch and heard she was about to be named. She is evidently something special ... really smart, really personable, very intelligent and a hard worker and she walked by Lincoln this past weekend and everyone flipped.

To me, finally, this means we’re in the game. For too many years we’ve been prudish and far too old fashioned when it came to recruiting. These guys, Boom and T-Rob and B-Mac and staff, are as focused and driven on recruiting as I have ever seen here.

This next class should really begin to show.

I'm not sure if you've ever heard Saban speak or not, especially about recruiting. I got to go to an event in Huntsville a few years ago where he was speaking to some Bama boosters (under the guise that it was a business development and management seminar) and it was fascinating.

His philosophy, when it comes to recruiting, is to leave no stone unturned. He's all about support staff and "on campus coordinators" that accompany families and recruits through every step of the process during a visit. Saban really pioneered the whole system.

Kirby has implemented it as well at UGA.

By the time a prospect steps foot on campus you know everything about him. These ladies then coordinate every aspect of the visit. Where everyone is supposed to be at exactly what time ... it's all very synchronized and choreographed for maximum efficiency.

That was actually the point of this dinner I attended. It applied as much to running a business as it did recruiting.

We here at SC have been in shock to some degree because we went from an 80s and 90s mentality coaching staff, work ethic, managerial philosophy .... to this very modern, very exact, very surgical approach (especially when it comes to recruiting).

Let's be honest. Sex sells. Most programs have always had girls around, hostesses, during recruiting visits. We had a famous fallout with Jenn Holtz when she boycotted a recruiting weekend with her girls because she didn't like how Skip was being treated .... and that's when Mike McGee said, "frick you, you're out" and let Skip and Lou know that Skip would not take over for Lou.

These days these girls are paid to do a specific job and it's not all about looks ... but looks are a plus.

mUSChamp has also upped our online presence, our social media presence, our video presence our graphic arts department, etc. We just took the top social media department award for the second year in a row.

It's taking awhile but we're getting there.

Not many fans really realize just how far ahead of the game Saban has been for all of these years.
