Why would you leave a place as a starter to sit on the bench if you have any aspirations whatsoever in playing at the next level?

Yeah, redshirt, collect a check and develop. These college QBs have that luxury these days. No reason to not take an extra year and develop since you get paid nicely at QB these days.

I don't have a dog in the hunt, but Baton Rouge is a cesspool. I have been to Starkville and it is not.

This is true. Starkville's big knock is that it's just generally a boring place.

Baton Rouge's excitement comes from always remembering to lock your car doors while pumping gas and continuously being on the looking out for good cover to hid behind when bullets start flying.
