Dude, take what the NCAA gives you and then add football, why are you being a complete retard about this? When you do that, we have more NCs than anybody. DWI.

Technically...if you include individual titles as well...UF has the most!

I said on page 3, UF is 1 and LSU is 2. That shouldn't be debatable.

You are counting Arkansas' football MNC, but not counting LSU's 3 MNCs.

Hell, most of Ark are in track though. I thought this was for overall ADs.

All of the arguments about the number of national championships one school might have across multiple sports (some of which are not played by every school)are absurd in determining which program is the best. An honest appraisal would have to weight each championship by sport. A track and field championship does not equal a BCS championship in football or an NCAA basketball championship. Give me a decent system which weights each sport, and I'll listen.

There are many systems that attempt to do this (e.g. Capital One Cup). I think most people will go with the system that gives them the answer that they desire (i.e. their favorite team on top).
Many people assert that the Olympic sports just have to be money-whipped in order to succeed. I haven't seen any convincing data one way or the other. Perhaps football (because of the abyss between it and the other sports, spending-wise) should really be considered its own category and is not directly comparable to the other NCAA-sponsored sports.

I don't see how you couldn't agree with this.

Lets all be serious for a second. Weighing the championships by sports is the only way to go, but not because it will give Bama a clear advantage but because football is the driver. The landscape and geographic mappings of conferences are about to take an even bigger makeover because football is the most dominant sport in America. The fact that some of you are arguing stupid swimming and track championships shows that your athletic departments lack in the sports that matter, i.e. football, gymnastics and softball

Florida is #1
LSU is #2
People may think their program is higher, but that's the way it is.

You can't weigh more heavily on football. Realistically, there are about 25 teams each year who have a shot at the national title in football. Basketball has many more programs that contend, baseball has many more programs that contend. As do all the other sports.
That's a stupid argument on your part. He'll, even the basketball champion is king of over 300 other programs, as is baseball.
One could argue winning a title in sports not named football is more difficult because of the amount of games, tourney format, etc.

So as you can see, even though there are more teams in the field that can compete to win it, they rarely ever do. The same teams are competing for championships year in and out in the same sports. Arky is always going to be good at track, LSU is always going to be good at baseball and football and so forth and so on. It is what it is.

You obviously missed the point.
Beating out 300+ programs, plus playing in a tourney format makes it more difficult.
Who was ranked #1 in basketball the most this year? Indiana. Indiana lost in the Sweet 16. Who was #1 at the end of the year? Gonzaga. Gonzaga didn't make the sweet 16.
Why? The format is different. The talent is more spread out. Kids are recruited from multiple nations. It's an international sport. More teams. An even playing field in the tourney. Small programs like FGCU have No Chance of playing for titles in football. They do here, and made the sweet 16.
Again, I don't care who the champions are, but the point is, it is more difficult to win a title in basketball, baseball, etc. than it is in football.
