If it was SOOOOO good, why is Chucky looking for a job?

The team got old for the most part. I am interested to see how we will do. You should be happy with Chavis' style though. Give him LSU's talent to work with and you should get over last year quickly. I was sad to lose him.

The Tampa 2 is basically a Cover 2 defense. Many NFL teams can run this formation. Tampa uses it as their primary formation.

The Bears run a "Tampa" 2 scheme. How has their D been since Lovie Smith has been there?

The best way to beat it is have a good TE that split the middle seams and a QB that can make throws. ***Or just have a solid running game.

And how bout the talent level numbnuts???

The talent? First of all, it's a shame that Eric Berry didn't get the Jim Thorpe award. Second of all Demetrius Moreley is one hell of a player and highlights Berry when he can't make the play. Also, the fact that we have the #2 and #5 secondary players in the country signed and ready to play for THE BEST DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR the NFL has seen in ages tells me something about the talent level for the Tennessee Vols this year. A man that has produced 35 NFL Pro-Bowlers in the NFL can surely handle breaking down a college offense and producing a competitive SEC defense with several top ten studs in the secondary and the linebackers. Don't even begin to tell me that Monte Kiffin's defense won't work in the SEC. That's just plain ignorant. Basically, that's just plain jealousy and you probably have nothing else to bitch about. Gongratulate UT for taking a bold step and going a different direction to win. I know I sure will.

WTF does that mean?

When you only have five years with any particular player, running a Tampa-2 can be difficult. Regardless of the number of secondary players you sign, the formation is depended on:

- really athletic linebackers. MLB is playing the middle of the field and your other two LBs are in coverage. Plus, they have to make several reads.

- a superior four upfront. Since the conservative form of the Tampa-2 rarely blitzes, your pressure comes from the front four. They have to be good consistently. ANY QB with enough time in the pocket without pressure is going to eventually complete the pass or make a play.

Now, M.Kiffin, in recent years, has run a more aggressive form of the Tampa-2. This means, blitz a LB or secondary player here and there, zone blitzes, having a DE drop back and overloading one side with a blitzing LB and such and so on.

Questions here are :

- Does M. Kiffin have enough in the tank to work with kids vs professionals?
- Will M. Kiffin get out of the film room and actively recruit? You can't judge talent in a room. It requires travel, a handshake and seeing the kid and coach in the eye.

Breaking down a NFL offense is one thing. College is different since you see a diversity of talent and schemes from week to week.

Throw in L. Kiffin's offense and it is all a huge question mark. If ANY cover-type team stays on the field too long, it is fins.
