Signed,

Dog fans who claimed a title for 1942, despite not finishing first in the AP poll.

They claimed 1941 with a #20 ranking...let that sink in. And yes, they will claim it if they lose...bc OSU “shouldn’t” be there.

Care to guess who made a claim for 1942, despite Ohio State finishing first in the AP poll?

Also, Alabama didnt claim 1937, even though they finished 8-0-1 while national champion Minnesota finished 7-1.

They didnt claim 1945, even though they finished 10-0 while national champion Army finished 9-0.

They didn't claim 1966, despite finishing 11-0 while co-champions Notre Dame and Michigan State finished 9-0-1.

They didn't claim 1977, despite finishing 11-1 while national champion Notre Dame finished 11-1 also... but ND's only loss came against a team Alabama destroyed, which was Ole Miss.

But please don't let me interrupt the narrative being driven by people who communicate in grunts...

Sure, if the AP or Dunkel or some hometown paper ranks them #1.
