Chavis, Smart, Saban, Narduzzi, etc etc etc would have struggled on Def with the players we had on the roster last year.
We started DT's at 250, DE's at 220, LB's at 205 etc etc... They were undersized, under-experienced, under-talented, lack of depth etc. No one has ever said that we will have a florida, bama, 2011 lsu smothering defense that shuts half the teams on our schedule out, we've simply said we think it will get better.

Are you trying to prove that you can find threads about LSU which evince no shred of the fear you alleged?
Because if so, you're succeeding.

It's so great when they act like he's some sort of genius. Dude has been fired from his last two jobs

I'll take below average if it wins us a lot of games

So what is it then? Fear or obsession?
Because you guys sure do talk about LSU a lot

This is an acceptable opinion about Offense but not about Defense. Seriously Bro, LSU has been a great program this decade, enjoy it.

Of course you don't.

Because it shows that finishing second vs third in a division means nothing? Right
Dude, you are pretty tough to reason with. These bowl game matchups are usually pretty orchestrated in terms of where you finish. You going to the cotton bowl that year was impacted by 1)first year in sec 2) game played in TX 3) Johnny football.
I'm not going to argue with you about this. Any other year LSU is in that game. Its just a bowl game, not a huge deal, but we have played in enough bowl games that we could predict which one we were going to, and that one took a different path.

Comparatively speaking its not that bad.
True! And a good point. But I guess I took exception to someone lecturing me for bringing a troll thread down.

In neither year did you beat LSU or finish higher in the SEC.
Congrats on the polls though. I can see how that is a big accomplishment for such an average program...
This alone would make for an interesting thread. Which is more important? Where you finish in the National Polls, or where you finish in the SEC. I mean, with A&M finishing 5th in the Nation they would have had a decent chance to go to the Playoffs, if they had existed. That was a bit of a fluky year with the way that finished up, though. I guess the bowls did that.

You DO realize that this is a thread about A&M started by a LSU fan, right?
I think the obsession is mutual. It looks like a promising rivalry getting started. IF A&M can mange to beat LSU this year, I think we could be seeing a new rivalry. That, helps to keep the season interesting.

To put it simply, this is the most talented team Sumlin has ever had. Great O-line, stud receivers, good QB, and a defense that looks like it is tired of being the weak link of the team. They are dangerous, how dangerous who knows? I just hope they don't ruin my Thanksgiving

Why are you using past seasons results to predict future games? A&M beat a 3-9 Auburn team by 40 points at Auburn only for them to nearly win the National Championship the very next season.
Thank you! LSU was the 2007 BCS Champ and followed it up with a 7-5 regular season record. Anything is possible. A&M looks to have an awesome offense but there is a lot of football to be played before our match-up. LSU is young but so are a lot of teams this year.

Nationally matters more, especially the way the post season is now.

Nope. SEC is king. That why we get all the recruits. Seriously.
Posted on 9/8/14 at 7:11 pm to JayDeerTay84
Your logic implies recruits are looking at your SEC rank instead of national, which just isn't true. Recruits are familiar with rankings the media uses wtf are you smoking

My statement implies that SEC is king and a NFL ticket.
It's a fact.
It's a fact.

No recruit looks at 2012 LSU and their Peach Bowl loss as a better team than the 2012 Texas A&M 11 win team that finished top 5.

A&M is in the SEC dipshit
Posted on 9/8/14 at 7:26 pm to Manzielathon
No shite. More to the point of why A&M has been resurrected with elite recruits.
Hell, if final rankings mattered, why did LSU get the #1 class in 2009 after losing 4 games and ending the season on a loss?
Final rankings don't mean shite.
The only national perception that matters is NFL.
If you want to look like a tennis ball and win a lot of games go to Oregon. If you want NFL, SEC.
