Cyclical like the climate, the East will rise again.

People say Mizzou won it when the East was down, but it was like the 3rd best division those 2 years.
2013 the east was definitley good, as was missouri. They deserve all the credit. Although to be fair, UGA was the best team in the division (beat 2 top 10 teams back to back) before injuries decimated them, but still...kudos to missouri.
2014 is was definitely "down". Only 2 teams finished above .500 in SEC play, they were also the only 2 teams to finish with less than FIVE losses on the season.

Meyer left UF and then got replaced with Muschamp. Then the west got the better team from the Big 12. The west has hired better coaches .

But I think the reasoning for those better recruiting classes is a snowball effect that stems from the weekly competition. The perception of the superior competition in the west nets them a higher level of quality recruits more regularly than teams on the east. Not to mention that every team in the east has undergone a head coaching change sometime in the past 5 years. Nobody in the west has done that except ole miss
I agree with that logic. Put simply, the West has won multiple SEC and National Championships over the last 7 years and the East hasn't won any. And with Florida being down since losing Meyer, the East simply hasn't been very competitive.

Coaching is a lot of it. In my opinion Saban and Miles are the best 2 followed by Mullen and Freeze. What's the best in the east? Coach McElwain ? He would be 5TH in the west at best.
