why is that an apt comparison when Alabama has more money than USC and OM doesn't.

Because just because you have less money in the athletic department doesn't mean someone will buy your coach out. If Michigan wanted to pay 10 mil for Miles they would have but they decided to go with the cheaper option. Just like if someone came after Freeze we just have to be willing to pay the same amount until they decide that it is a better deal to go after option B. With the new TV deal and excitement in Oxford we have the money to do that.

But a program like LSU can atleast compete with Michigan regarding money.

Look, I don't think money determines everything. I think it does matter, but not just regarding what the head coach is paid but what the school has left to pay assistants, etc. I think OM is a tough place to win for a number of reasons and I just don't think it's a great job in terms of the SEC. It's not a bad job, but I just believe there are other better jobs.

ETA: I don't think he's leaving for an SEC school if it ever came to that fwiw.

I think you're being a little naive. I'm not saying he doesn't love OM, doesn't want to accomplish great things there, doesn't want to stay there as long as he can. But it's simply not a top tier job for a number of reasons. I think "stealing" a coach in the media age is more difficult than ever, but my only point is that there are better jobs out there and if he finds success, it wouldn't surprise me to see him leave regardless of any ties to the school.

Some people are content where they are. A million dollars a year isn't much of a difference to them as it would be to make 5 million dollars a year. My dad has turned down a few promotions where he'd be making significantly more money just because he was content where he was living, what he was doing for a living, and he could afford just about anything he wanted anyway. He still makes a lot, but he'd be making significantly more and would be running a company if he really wanted to do it. I just think that Freeze is one of these people.

I understand what your saying that we don't have the budgets other schools do. But other schools aren't going to offer 200 Million dollars a year for a coach. So the offers of 5-10 mil for Freeze in 3 years is not a big deal. We would have the money to pony up to keep him. Would we want to do it, no. Would we have the money, yes.

Maybe you're right. I'm less optimistic but we come from two different places.

Freeze would be an idiot to stay at Ole Miss if a "big boy" school came calling.

Don't piggyback on my comments because worse could be easily directed at MSU.

There are many other teams with a lot more money than you. I realize that is difficult for some people to understand, but it's absolutely the truth. And we're not just talking about his salary but salaries for the staff as a whole play roles in coaches decisions.

Not everyone is enticed by just an extra million. For certain things, not everyone has their price. If they're incredibly content and happy where they are and they're not money whores, why leave?

No school from Mississippi will win the national title in the next 200 years.

Mississippi State will win a national title before Texas A&M does.

Which is hilarious, because these are Texas A&M's best years and they still won't make it to the BCS title game.

And let us be real, us state fans could really care less about Ole Miss's success(unless you're an obvious and terrible troll like Jimmie Rustler), the real butthurt fanbase is LSU as they slowly slip to the bottom tier of the SEC West.

It's like if LSU fans don't have a subject to be butthurt about, they lose the comraderie that holds their fanbase together.

The extra Mil wouldn't be an issue. We can match any salary anyone wants to throw at Freeze. The scale of the difference in Saban and Freeze's salary is miniscule compared to difference in athletic budgets at Alabama and Ole Miss.

Piggybacking? Jesus.

I stated a mere fact. And Dan Mullen would be an idiot too.

But am I the one sitting here writing a novel on the reasons why I "think" my coach doesn't want to leave my school? I'll save you the time responding. No, I'm not.
