I misread the title and thought Verne got replaced. It was like an early Christmas.

I guess I'm the only one with a soft spot for ol' Verne. It's like watching football with my grandfather.
But McDonough is solid. If I was at the helm of CBS, though, I'd try to lure Brad Nessler away from the four-letter and team him with Gary.
I second the Nessler idea. I think he's my favorite broadcaster.

Brad Nessler is the best in the business imo.
i will forever be a Ron Franklin man though. his voice will always remind me of big time sec night games.

I don't like Verne, but I loathe McDonough, he is the worst announcer ever.

Agreed. There is a lot to be said about nostalgia.
Hell, I have a big soft spot for Dave Neal after starting every saturday with dave, dave, and dave in my developmental years.

Ron Franklin FTW
Not sure if he works for both but Nessler calls the Thursday night games for the NFL network now so not sure if hes still employed by the evil empire. Is a great play by play man IMO

When Verne decides to hang up the mic, he should be replaced by Carter Blackburn.

Anyone else notice the oxymoron here?

Danielson is arguably the most knowledgeable color guy in college football today. I know I'll get flamed for that statement, but I'll stick by it.
I agree 100%. He's simply unmatched in the focus on small, but often game changing, details he's able to bring into his color commentary.
I think some fans dislike Danielson simply because he's very opinionated and most fans never forgive one negative about their team even if it falls smack dab in the middle of 25 positives.
I find Verne kind of funny and a pretty good choice to balance out an edgier Danielson.
I think they're the best team doing college football and it's not close.

Ron Franklin would be a perfect replacement for Verne. I think ESPN fired him anyway for calling all their fat sideline reporters "sweetie" too much.

Remember when Greg Childs made a 50-yard (or so) catch and run at Florida, crossed the goal line and fumbled...Verne said, "what are they gonna do call it incomplete?"

can anyone imagine listening to gary danielson without verne? see? it takes a verne" to make a "gary".... it is a soup no one benefits from but CBS. But, after Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles what is any network to do? At least Gary sounds more intelligent after Verne opens his mouth, but in the end, neither can carry a tune compared to Keith and Frank.

I'd love to hear Ron Franklin calling games again. Just isn't the same without he and Gottfried and Karsten on the sidelines. Yeah the chicks are eye candy but still isn't as good.

While we are at it, what happened to Gary Bender and Don Criqui? Those guys were college football giants, and just seemed to disappear.
