Murray's height will kill his draft stock. Even a stud like Russell Wilson went in the 3rd round due to height. Murray has started 4 years, has had tons of talent surrounding him, and still has not seemed to progress much or have the ability to win the biggest games. I think he has reached his peak and there is not much more potential left for an NFL QB coach to get out of him. Add to that the fact that his measurables are average and you have a late round draft pick.

Murray is barely a step up from Bray when it comes to performing under pressure.

AJ goes first. Not that I really care because they will both have an opportunity at the next level and both appear to be solid college QB's.

Well he's 3-11 against teams that finished ranked.

Both AJ and Murray are comparable college QBs in terms of talent but I'd give the nod to AJ McCarron as being the 1st drafted between them. AJ is clutch in big games and doesnt make many mistakes. He has the size advantage and he's won (2) NCs. I dont understand why some people are saying that he doesnt have adequate zip on the ball--he may not be able to sling it like Mallett could but not many QBs can. Hes very accurate even on 20+ yard throws--some of his best throws were in the biggest games hes played in. AJ McCarron reminds me a little bit of Eli Manning.

and the league seems to be going to a QB who can run..I think Mett is at the top of that list these days

AJM will go first 90% due to him being taller/bigger than Murray. There's not a single thing Mcarron can do on a football field that Murray can't.

With regard to overall talent... I agree AJ = Murray. However, AJ does make less mistakes and is less prone to choke in big games.

The NFL isn't going to running QBs. All a QB has to do is be able to move in the pocket which is where Mett needs to show his biggest improvement. Dude has cinder blocks on he feet in the pocket. It's still a league where you have to get the ball to the playmakers. A running QB won't make it the entire year in this NFL. Those guys on defense are bigger and faster than ever. If Cam can teach him some pocket presence (not sure if it's even teachable) then Mett could easily be a 3rd round guy. His measurables and arm strength are NFL caliber.

Some of you guys have no real sense of history of the draft at the QB position. The only argument I am seeing in regards to Murray not being taken over McCarron is the fact that he "doesn't win big games". I have seen his height mentioned which could be a problem, but that is becoming less and less of a problem in today's NFL with advent of more and more spread offenses. NFL GM's could care less if he hasn't won big games in college. That is not how they evaluate their talent. GM's know that if a team is assembled the right way around a talented QB, that QB will be in a position more times than not to win in the NFL. Mark Sanchez won plenty of "big" games in college, and I wouldn't draft him to play for my kids pee wee team. Another case in point is that Peyton Manning had the dubious honor of not being able to win a big game in college as well, (UF was mentioned over and over during his draft year) but I would say he has a good knack for coming up with plays that help a team win on a consistent basis in the NFL. That is all a GM can ask of a QB in today's NFL.
Also, I would tend to think that a Super Bowl winning coach know a lot more about the subject than every person on this board-combined. So I will just leave this here...
