It is kind of dumb to not treat it that way since the AP was part of the BCS formula. Distinguishing the AP is something relevant that year is like giving a trophy just for the computer score.

Also it has now proven itself to be no more than an avenue for the media to make sports news. It is there poll by the way. They never said anything until they didn't get their way with the BCS.
