I agree, but it is definitely a touchdown on the scoreboard. His opinion carries more weight than every poster on here unless they write for a national sports magazine with 3.5 million subscribers.

Back to the OP: Sports Illustrated calls Ole Miss the worst coaching job in college football.
He said that in regards to expectations vs resources. He did not mean the worst job overall. You are twisting his words.

I agree with him in regards to this, our fans are delusional most of the time.

Not really in the long run. Mandel wants to be like Bill Simmons and Pat Forde, but is neither as witty(Simmons) or as knowledgeable(Forde). Just because you write for a national publication doesn't mean you are suddenly a good writer or know what the hell you are talking about. Hell Jemele Hill is still writing for ESPN, would you respect her opinion?

I didn't say he was a good writer, but just compared him to the posters on here.

You really think DCRebel or Klongdawg's arguments are more credible than a national sports writer?

Clarion Ledger has a very large subscribers base.

Klongdog? no
DCRebel? depends on the writer.

Not really, but to be as consistently negative as Mandel has been to OM, to cite him as "evidence" is like citing Jesse Jackson on race relations, you know what you are going to hear, therefore, I don't consider him objective. Which if you're writing for a national publication as an "expert", in my opinion, objectivity is crucial.

Is anyone else in this thread? Are you guys really not going to let us put points on the scoreboard when a national writer directly claims OM as the worst coaching job based on resources and fan expectations?
I'm taking my ball and going home.

correct. I don't see the misunderstanding that we're having.

You know me brah I don't have red and blue glasses. I don't have a problem with state hell you've seen me at a lot of non egg bowl state games. I joke like everybody from ms does about the rivalry but at the end of the day, I still consider us equal.

They are on spin cycle, and it's a big load. Got to sling a lot of truth out of the article. What the Bears don't realize, as someone has already mentioned, is that nobody would find anything positive to write about Nutt's last two years. What other Div 1 coach has 2 specific NCAA rules put in place to counter something Nutt did. The oversigning rule is widely regarded as the Nutt rule because he signed 38 kids in one class. And then had the audacity to publically say he didn't know you couldn'tm sign 38 players. Then there was the Masoli rule, put in place after Masoli transferred into Ole Miss after being kicked off the team at Oregon. Then there was Tobias Simpleton majically going from a 15 to a 22 on his ACT to become eligable. Then there was the whole touchdown club in Alabama fiasco when he was whinning about Whitehead getting stole from him by Auburn when a majority of his last signing classes stars were stole from MS State. Then there was the 50 (F I F T Y!) years speach. He fed the media a constant supply of his stupidity

Outsider's persepcetive:
I'd much rather have the Ole Miss job. The state university, better town, historically easier cross division permanent opponent (though could change). If you could lock down the state of MS, Memphis, and add a few key needs players elsewhere Ole Miss could win 8-9 games annually with 10 wins occassionally.
Neither a destination jobs, but I think it would be easier to get the next job from Ole Miss than from MSU.

TBH, Nutt being a dumbass does not mean the OM job is any better or worse.
This is not true... When asked about signing 38, he claimed he could sign 80 if he wanted to, IIRC.

Houston Nutt, Orgeron, and Dan Mullen disagree.

This was in reference to OM people saying that SI and Mandle are intentionally negatively biased towards them

Wait. Are you saying Dan Mullen has a new job? I'm confused? Do State fans think he's gone, or do they believe his garbage about those reports being from "rivals" upset about being beaten in recruiting?
