How? It's so spread out. Plus Tigerland is a hell hole. The Square has 10+ bars in walking distance. Besides the Levee and Library, all of them are worth stopping by if you're over 21 (the other two are for the 18+ crowd). You're missing out if you don't hit up the Square this time round.
There are 23 bars on the square in Oxford.
The Levee
The Library
Parish Baker's Pub
Downtown Grill
City Grocery
The Burgundy Room
Pearl Street
Taylor's Pub
Ajax
Boure'
The Cellar
The Lyric
The Blind Pig
and a bunch I can't remember off of the top of my head.
Me and Nick wrote them all down.

The thing you have to remember is how spoiled you get living in La. when it comes to food.
I'll give Oxford the edge in the BBQ department.

for real brah. baton rouge is an alright city, but it always seemed kind of boring to me.

some people like small schools and other perfer big ones. i am one of the latter.
A) I've been messing up "you're" and "your" for some reason. This is annoying.
B) I follow. You see, you're just hating on my town. It's like family, you can't make fun unless you still grudgingly like the place.

and they all close by the time i go out. when i was there, i hung out at (some names might be wrong) rib cage, burgandy room, and tiki something (outdoor bar i think has since closed). all are great except having my beer taken from me at 15 minutes til midnight. unless you live by there (which is ghastly expensive), it's not worth it. parking is hard and don't even think about drinking and driving.

more bar choices(although the crowds at ole miss are better because they dont have to put up with as many flat billed douches), casinos, way more restaurants, better food, and better overall location(cities its close to like nola and Lafayette) and the fishing around here is amazing. Its also only 2 hours to the beach.
Well it's a matter of taste really. I don't gamble, just not fun to me. I grew up near the beach (Mobile), but don't fish. The food I'll give you 100% though.
Though fyi, a city isn't cool because there are cool cities nearby. That's like calling the one ugly girl hot because she's with a group of hot girls.

The lack of transportation is the biggest problem. I'm lucky to have a good friend and my roommate from last year live right next to High Cotton. So, I don't have to clear out until much later.

i dont gamble either, but a lot do....and the topic is where would you rather live....not which city is the best, so yeah it does matter if youre close to other nice places, or in the middle of nowhere.

one of the things i enjoyed about oxford was it's locality. i could hit memphis, state, bama, and vandy games easily.

We're way past Auburn vs Baton Rouge. We're talking about Baton Rouge in general. I asked for stuff to do in Baton Rouge. Where is Bourbon Street in Baton Rouge again?

You could live in Grenada and be just about as close. Still would be living in a shithole though. Region is a different discussion.

never seen that happen. They only close at midnight on Saturdays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. On Thursday, Friday, Monday.
The bars close at 1.

Both illegal and stupid.

I hang out 3rd Street. It's more of an eclectic group than a bunch of college kids. Under Perkins Overpass is another diverse crowd.
btw-I dispise Tigerland as much as anyone

Don't talk bad about Olive Garden. Average italian food has it's place.
The problem is really that Baton Rouge is too small for my taste. I either want small town or it to be like NYC. Baton Rouge hits that perfect shitty medium. It's got the size of a city (not helped by the traffic and how spread out it is) but without the fun cultural type things I'd expect in a city.

I think region is part of my choice to move home. I don't think BR is anywhere near my favorite city (that would be Austin), but I love living close to NO, Laf., and boating areas. Having Memphis so close to Oxford is a huge reason I'm going to the game this year. I enjoy Beale Street on Friday and Square on Saturday.

You see I'm 20 and just recently moved here. When In six months, when you see a douchebag in a polo buttondown with an Ole Miss logo on it, you'll know who it is.
