Johnny's is great. Hot and Hot Fish Club and Ovenbird are great.

Hopefully the game will provide a much needed economic shot in the arm for the area
Funny you should mention shots. Cuz bham offers lead and rounds of it.

Good but honestly I like Giuseppe's unless you gotta "go" because they only have the one bathroom right next to where everyone eats

I second Giuseppe’s. Outstanding Italian food

They should start with not kicking off the game on a Tuesday at 11 am.
Crowd will reflect it.

Highland Bar and Grill won awards.
Not my kind of place, but others may enjoy.
Is Nikki’s still around?
If you like golf, RTJ has 2 locations close by, Oxmoor Valley and Ross Bridge.

I realize this is an unsubtle dig at AU’s pathetic bowl destination. It’s okay, we deserve the ridicule.
However, should Bama get by Cincinnati in Round 1, their lucky fanbase will get the opportunity to enjoy the balmy climes of Indianapolis in January:

You really want to be walking back to your car in downtown Birmingham after dark?

Yes, I believe that was the name. At least it was a nice eat a few years back, maybe it has changed.

These threads reveal the people who haven’t been to Birmingham in years, or scared suburbanites that never venture to downtown. Downtown Bham is packed with people out and about most every night of the week.

I go to Birmingham all the time. Taught there at night just a couple of weeks ago.
So much for your unsuccessful profiling attempt.
My niece, who has been working at UAB Children's for less than 2 years and in that time has had one car stolen and a second burglarized would also like to tell you not all those people packing downtown Birmingham at night are there for the restaurants.

Not for Mt Brook cougars. That's for the 40-somethign suburban divorcees with tramp stamps and/or tats on their gunt. They'll try to recruit you to Church Of the Highlands though.
