The Mike the Tiger answer would've been a good one, but you mentioned inanimate object.

Exactly. Admittedly, I get a little sentimental when I see Pat Trammel's cleats. Some of the buildings and the history they hold are always going to tug at my heart strings. When the tornado hit, the first building I thought of was the Little Round House.

My first thought was of sorority houses and Tutwiler....

regardless of the presence of a tornado.

Not if the BOT signs off on the plans to erect a statue for me on the former grounds.

I thought of the lifes that were lost and how a community came together and said this will not get us down. You can choose to be a victim or to be a powerful example of how to move forward and to put tragedy behind you. When I returned to T'town that April I was amazed and impressed by the drive and attitude. One lady told that she was "done with "crying". That was pretty prevalent.

In spite of the tone of this thread... WHICH i set.. and how dis-similar it may seem from how i've been perceived.. i will never forget that day. i was going to get married a month later from 4-27, and my fiance at the time was directly in the path of the tornado. (came to find out she was missed by roughly 200 yards or so)... my business was wrecked. rough day.

but, going out and helping and kicking arse with people was one of the coolest few weeks of my life.

total disasters in your area that you can experience definitely have life changing moments.

See, you are going to tell your kids about how you conquered Tutwiler and they will NEVER understand how many tiny little stuffy rooms were crammed into one building, or how few bathrooms there were. Your accomplishments will be forever minimized. When people see Columbus's statue, no one thinks of the conditions he endured when he sailed the Ocean Blue.

It's a little scary to think about the cloud of DNA that will result from the building dust when it comes down.

To steal (in a loose sense) from Newton speaking to Hooke...if I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.

Newton was being demure and saying that his accomplishments were simply due to the greats that came before him...

any success I had in that den of iniquities can be attributed to the same.

A toast to the ones who came (YSWIDT?) before!
