The SEC was pathetic this year.

Hopefully, committee would reward a team that had a challenging OOC
No 1 loss team ahead of them has had a challenging OOC though.

Relative to the the SEC's own lofty standard that was set by winning 7 Naty's in a row between 06-12, yes the SEC has been disappointing, but it's not like the strength of the other P5 conferences is blowing the SEC out the water this year.

True, but even with 2 losses, I'd still put Stanford ahead of UNC even if both win this weekend.

That would be the one team I wouldn't make an argument against if they went instead of UNC.

You realize UCF was 0-12 right?
Yeah, but Northwestern and Notre Dame are pretty good and UCF isn't really an intentional cupcake even if it turned out that way.
In fact, those 2 OOC games that Stanford scheduled are, by themselves, equal or better than the best two games either Ohio St or UNC play on the entirety of their schedules.
Not even saying that Stanford should be in without question but I can certainly see the argument for the 2 losses being balanced out by the difficulty of the schedule compared to UNC and Ohio St.
Stanford would be 6-2 against teams at least receiving Top25 consideration
UNC would be 1-0 against any similar teams with even Top 25 votes
Ohio State would be 1-1
That's simply a vast difference in quality (or at least decent) wins which I can understand the committee rewarding.

I have heard comparisons between Ohio State getting in last year because they won their conference and that meaning Stanford should get in this year.
Right off the bat, Ohio State BARELY got in, with extreme protest, and they had 1 loss (the same as TCU and Baylor). Stanford has 2 loses and this WILL matter. You can say this is why they are not comparable and thus conference champion doesnt even come into play (which is written in the rules, they wont even consider that factor).
Second, Ohio State is higher in almost every computer model. In the top 4 ALREADY in most. Including the old BCS system. They are also clearly one of the top two most talented teams.
Third, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio State in the same playoffs is the wet dream of wet dreams. Viewers, money, history, you name it.
OSU will be the next team in Clemson loses. Book it
