Using the FEI ELS metric, through Week 8.
Strength of schedule ratings represent the number of losses a team two standard deviations above average would expect to have against the schedule of opponents.
Listed in order by overall rank, expected losses to the right.
#1 Alabama - 1.61
#2 Mississippi State - 1.57
#3 Auburn - 1.57
#4 Kentucky - 1.55
#7 Texas - 1.46
#8 Texas A&M - 1.43
#9 Arkansas - 1.39
#10 Oklahoma - 1.38
#12 Ole Miss - 1.28
#13 Vanderbilt - 1.24
#15 South Carolina - 1.19
#18 Tennessee - 1.16
#19 Florida - 1.12
#27 LSU - 0.89
#32 Georgia - 0.79
#40 Missouri - 0.70
Other notables
#20 Indiana - 1.06
#23 Ohio State - 0.97
#24 BYU - 0.96
#37 Wake Forest - 0.77
#41 Houston - 0.69
#54 Notre Dame - 0.50
#56 UCLA - 0.48
#61 Miami - 0.40
#82 Texas Tech - 0.27
#88 Utah - 0.25
The SEC makes up 4 of the top5. 8 of the top10. 13 of the top20.
Only 4 other highly ranked teams have a schedule better than the easiest SEC schedule and the highest is #20, below 13 of 16 SEC Teams.
This is not parity, this is self harm.
2026 FEI Ratings (through Week 8)
PS: Kentucky has played the 4th most difficult schedule, can't say they are getting by because of an easy schedule.

I think the LSU Bama game will tell us everything about these two teams.
LSU hasnt beaten a great team, and Alabama has only beaten 1.
Kentucky, LSU, and UGA have a gauntlet to finish the season. Hell, you could throw Tennessee and Texas in there too.
The SEC is going to be in play with 3 losses no doubt. Just too many strong schedules.

Oh, you shouldn't have done that. You know LSU will argue to no end that we haven't played anyone, and how dare you post a poll unless they are ranked first or second.
Thanks for the props. Good luck the rest of the way, sir.
Beat LSU so their fans will have their playoff dreams smashed worse than when we beat them and took their basketball.

LSU
Could be a really fun, or frustrating November. Though not tough on paper, I learned never to underestimate Arkansas. They always give us a fight. Just wish we could bring back the Black Friday game.
