They celebrate the historical "yells" managed by male yell leaders from an era long gone by in college football's illustrious existence.

Two problems:

A&M didn't go coed til the 60's and carried on this tradtion for decades while others modernized. Making matters worse, A&M carries on the tradition to this day.

The far more egregious matter is that this male yell leader styling @ A&M is far different in detail than that of their peers in the era due to having no females to speak of within miles of College Station.

As witnessed in extended periods with the absence of the opposite sex (prison applications et al), men do strange things that would never be considered appropriate or acceptable when they are desperate for a partner attraction.
