These kids apparently didn't. And yeah, in college when I worked at a local urban youth center we educated kids there about crime and cultural perception and I was always shocked when young men didn't understand anything about rape and the consequences - never mind the fact that you're devastating another human being. So short answer, yes there are plenty of kids that don't understand that rape is serious.

I hope this horrible crime is used as an example for all schools to educate students what over drinking of alcohol can lead to. All big drinking schools have similar situations going on and it must stop! So happy the defense attorneys were not able to wiggle out a dismal by trying to blame the female victim.

I don't know man, you can blame a lot on drinking, but they were sober enough to try and destroy the condom evidence. It's kind of hard to believe that those guys would be dumb enough to think that this wouldn't come back on them with the amount of people that were involved.

Anybody know what it's means by "criminal responsibility" for another person's actions?
Posted on 1/27/15 at 5:29 pm to crimsonsaint
Yes. Tennessee law makes it so that a lookout for a bank robbery can be charged with robbery rather than accessory or conspiracy for example.
They just have to be substantially involved in the crime.

It means that person encouraged or aided the other person in the criminal act

He was there, didn't try to stop it, or report it I presume.

Actually just being there isn't enough to trigger it. Vandenberg got her drunk or roofied and brought her to the room for the purpose of raping her.

Terrible for all involved, but at least justice is served.

I followed enough of the trial to understand the fast verdict. The evidence was overwhelming and sickening. Not only did the abuse of alcohol bring this on but also the phone documentation. How Vandenburg handled the victim the next day and had sex with here was discussing. He lied to her about what happen and lured her int sex the day after. She only found out the truth of what happen when the phone evidence got out around campus.

Didn't some of the coaching staff try to cover it up?
ETA I seem to remember JFs name being brought up early in the investigation.

they shoulda thought of that before they ruined someone elses.
castration or the death penalty would be more appropriate.

So students spread rape pics around campus? That's disgusting if so.

Yeah, the one guy I saw was basically admitting it, but blaming the alcohol on the stand. Sorry dude...I've had enough alcohol to make my liver feel like an atom bomb was being dropped on it a few times and I never came close to thinking that what those guys did would be fine in a drunken moment. I think these guys just had character issues.

That was their defense, they were too drunk to be held accountable for their actions. What kind of precedent would that have made? Every DUI case could then just say they were too drunk to know what they were doing

They looking at each other and saying.....
We should have went to FSU.

Exactly. And now their lives are ruined because of their little fun moment. It's probably not so funny to them now.

Go frick yourself you ignorant piece of shite. The deeds these losers were just accused, charged and CONVICTED of is no where near the same ballpark as banging a lying, self-described "cleat chaser". Seriously, go frick yourself.
