Does one actually need to specify when it’s these states in question or is there a fierce battle for who’s shittiest?

Don't feel too bad. A good chunk of my own state is quite depressing to look at. But at least the scenery is pretty in those places.

The Upper Cumberland Plateau, rural West TN and far eastern Appalachia are God awful places to live in
