Meh, ya I guess you can say they are based purely on Spurrier. Other than that, I never look at them as one.

i think uga fans get a bad rap. kinda like the lsu fans of the east. they always talk smack about us but rarely have anything to back it up. i went to athens thinking i would be threatened at every corner. i met a few a-holes but i was generally treated well.

the ones i drank with act as if you guys were the worst fans ever.

'm not surprised though about the Teers, because in the end there isn't anything GOOD to say about them at all

i love vol fans. maybe the best fanbase i've ever encountered.

you mean we talk smack about LSU? I have respect for LSU ... not sure who you are speaking of. The only time we talk shite really is around Tennessee, Florida, and Yech fans. Auburn is pretty civil, and the other SEC schools that I'm aware of. I'm actually surprised to hear you say that the carolina fans you drank with thought of us as the worst fans ever. That's insane for them to say anything about anybody. Maybe I should add them to my list out of spite?

As far as Vols go, I have not once encountered a civil group of them. In fact, I have not once encountered a single one with a full set of teeth

A couple of different people (Lewis Grizzard and David housel) have said, and I respect both of their opinions, that Auburn/Georgia is a lot like two cousins who may disagree and fight, but when it comes down to it there is a family bond there that can't be broken. So many people who grow up in Georgia go to Auburn, when the teams play, you know that kids are playing against each other who have either played with, or against each other growing up.

I think one reason there is a lot of animosity against UGA is that in the last 10 years or so, there is a large "sidewalk" alumni sector growing up around the Dawgs. People across the state of Georgia who never really cared about college football all of a sudden started putting UGA stickers on cars and flags on houses because they were doing so well under Richt. Then, on top of that, they get this attitude about how UGA is this grteat program and they have been fans for so long and blah blah blah. You never saw these people when Goofy Goff was there, or Donnan - it is strictly a group of bandwagon jumpers that have this smartass attitude. I think a lot of the fans of the traditional UGA rivals have gotten fed up with those people.

my ex g/f was a huge vol fan. i went to lots of games with her. after four games, i would continue to go to knoxville with her for gamedays but i wouldn't set foot in that stadium. i love drinking in k-ville but that stadium is utter crap. we're broke up now so i will always pull against the vols just to spite her.

To be quite honest, I'm only 21 years old and have just started following college football within the last 6 years. Growing up in pennsylvania and moving to Georgia, I had to adopt a favorite team, and I chose UGA. I went to school the first semester after I graduated high school in suburban atlanta and have since fell in love with everything it has to offer. I'm not the run-of-the-mill bandwagon jumpers you speak of, i follow every athletic sport UGA has to offer through thick and thin. I donate to the Hartman fund every year as well. I will admit however that I have the UGA license plate, and a couple other UGA paraphenalia on my car. GOTTA SUPPORT! Auburn fans in Atlanta like to show who they are as well, with the tags and stickers and what not. Our entire athletic program as a whole is great, with pretty much all of our sports having success and being nationally ranked year in and year out. I'm just glad I adopted UGA and not Georgia Yech.

I agree. At the same time, Atlanta has the largest Auburn alumni population outside the state of Alabama - so a lot of those tags and stickers you see have ties directly to the school as as alums, students or families of such as opposed to bandwagoneers.

I'm not saying that bandwagoneering is all bad, especially in a case like yours. It is more the people who have lived here forever that just now decided to cop this attitude because the team is doing good.

Ya I agree with you, I don't like attitude. Confidence and loyalty is nice, but there is a point where too much is too much.

Auburn-Georgia is more of a mutual respect rivalry that has deep roots in the past. Auburn's first ever game was against Georgia, and the series just goes way back and has a lot of history along with being insanely close in every aspect.

ya I sensed that. Hell it may as well be, as many Auburn fans that are in the state of Georgia. I'm curious if there is the same problem for Alabama (UGA fans in their state?) ...

In Georgia, the biggest fan support goes to UGA and Auburn. GT is probably next and then maybe Alabama. Florida is probably 5th or so. Other than those schools, you may see an OU or Michigan fan here and there driving by. Though I must say for some strange reason I've seen WVU fans around. I don't ever see Vols fans though ( ) but here and there.
