It is. Intention is to throw the fielder off his throw, but you risk greatly injuring the fielder. Either way the play is illegal in college. So he should have been out of the inning.

No reason for that to be illegal in college when it's legal at all levels of professional baseball.

I agree, but I'm sure it's to protect the players of career ending injuries. I can see a reason for it, and against it.

You're fricking retarded. Get outta here with your "greatly injuring the fielder" line. The runner has a greater risk of catching a baseball to the eye socket.

If he would've been called out? Fine, it's the rule right now...but it isn't dirty, it's part of the game.

Yes it's dirty considering he made no attempt to slide into the bag and threw his spikes in the air. But whatever you want to think.

How is this underachieving when we don't need it? It doesn't help or hurt our postseason. We weren't even supposed to make the postseason this year so I'll take it. TN has nothing to lose, we have nothing to gain.

Lol that's a slide you see every night at a much higher level of baseball than this.

If it was so dirty it would be banned there.

But you can't do it in college baseball. I don't give a frick about the pros and their rules.

There is even more possibility of a torn hamstring, broken ankle, Achillies tear, or a high ankle sprain to the fielder. He's the one taking the cleate. You don't know his physiology or recent injuries that could be aggravated. I'm not saying it's dirty like sliding with your cleats up, but it's a higher injury risk play.

Bottom line is it's a rule, it wasn't called... End of story

Lol ok. It's okay for the 18-19 year olds in rookie ball but these guys mostly 20-22 can't handle it.

I get that it's against the rules, but don't quite get how it's dirty.

This is some really funny shite. I guess you learned this in your trainer days? Sure, I don't know recent injuries, but I know horse shite when I read it. You should've just stuck with "it's a rule", that's really the only leg you can stand on here. It is definitely not a higher risk of injury play or whatever.

have you ever seen the guy pull a hamstring running to first on a routine grounder? I guess running to first is high risk as well.
