My general impression of the A&M fans so far is they think the core part of becoming a great program is talking a lot of trash
FWIW, I do like their new coach... I just have no idea if he can transform their strange culture into something more like a football program

A&M fans are pretty unanimously thrilled to be playing LSU (especially near thanksgiving) to replace the Texas rivalry

But do y'all think we can compete
Yes

and do you think it will be a mutual rivalry or one-sided?
Mutual at some point, judging by the past game, might be mutual right now.

I think the game saturday showed our potential to have this grow into something as good/better than ours was with Texas
I'll help. Eff Texas.

and i don't recall LSU having a major historical rival for very long
Tulane out of the loop. Ole Miss not quite what it used to be. Welcome and let me formally introduce myself....

I'm at a loss for words. I am an old guy and have never heard that question.

LSU is not the same program that A&M fans remember. It will become apparent to A&M fans pretty soon that it has more in common with the Mississippi schools than LSU. For that reason, I don't see LSU fans really buying into the rivalry like back in the 90s. But, the thing about the SEC is that every game is important. So, it will still be exciting year in and year out when A&M plays LSU. You will learn to hate every team in the conference.
I'm sorry, this was funny to me. Care to explain this more?

Thoughts on the LSU/TAMU "rivalry" renewal? quote: I've never once driven through Louisiana and thought to myself "Well, this place is nice." there are nice parts, just not near the interstate
I drove from here to Gainesville several times and as a woman, I was always a little freaked out having to stop for gas in west LA. Weirdest chit I've ever seen in a gas station. Sometimes a just scary experience.
But I love LA people. I loved my two years in Tulane, and the culture of family and food although is different is similar to my people.
I'm actually excited to see this rivalry play out.
