Is the Aggie corp a real legit military corp?

Corps, not corp.

Legit? Depends what you’re asking.

Texas A&M University is not one of the five federal service academies; rather, it’s one of LINK ]six senior military colleges (Wikipedia; Norwich University, The Citadel, Virginia Military Institute,Virginia Tech, University of North Georgia) in the US.

The Corps of Cadets at A&M comprises only a small percentage of the overall student population but remains a highly visible presence on campus as a reminder of TAMU’s origins as an all-male military college.

A&M’s Cadet Corps is composed of three Air Force Groups, three Army Battalions, and three Navy/Marine Battalions. About one-half of those students contract with the military and receive commissions as officers in the US armed forces.
