Why is no one talking about the fact that it appeared to be retaliation for someone appearing to do the same thing to spikes earlier in the game? When it was pretty obvious a hand went into his helment angled upward (towards the eyes) and ripped his helment off in the process?
First of all, that doesn't change the fact that it was extremely dirty and he is a piece of shite thug. Secondly, his helmet came off during the course of a play and someone continued to block him. You don't stop the play because someone's helmet falls off. Lastly, it isn't the UGA players' fault that Spikes is too fricking stupid to button up his chinstrap the right way.

Correct. Only when the runner's helmet comes off does the play become dead.
Watching the play, right after his helmet came off, another player collided with his head. No way could the blocker avoid the contact.

I get all that but this obsession over this event is boarding on whining. Both plays were dirty...hands to the eyes=dirty, standing up in a pile one a train i don't care. The hands to the eyes forced the helement off, when was anything mentioned past that about the hit after his helement was off?

OK...I get it now. Much apologies. I did read the ruling wrong. But you still atacked me over your poor reading skills. I was not talking earlier about the legality of the play but the blue link. I am a man to admit I was wrong about the second arguement. I did not know the ruling but I was only commenting on the "late hit" issue earlier in the thread.
Not a problem
Announcers use vague terms in their descriptions...i.e. late hit. Late hit could mean after the ball was dead or late hit could mean late in the play (after handing the ball to the runner). Their job is to entertain; it certainly isn't to be accurate.
Another one they like to use is "fumbled the punt". Drives me crazy when they say that.
