The NCAA's handling of Cam Newton's situation vs. UNC player(s)

This came out Dec. 2nd and it highlights what went down in Robert Quinn's situation while also mentioning the penalties that some of the other UNC players faced. A few glaringly obvious things come to light, namely:
1. That Quinn is not real bright and that he's not being completely honest.
2. That UNC fricked up by granting complete access to the NCAA in an attempt to soften the penalty that the NCAA ultimately gives them. If UNC ends up getting a harsh penalty, they'll be the LAST school to cooperate w/ the NCAA moving forward.
3. That UNC's attorney was about as dumb as Quinn for advising him to voluntarily turn his cell phone over to the NCAA. That is the only reason he got caught.
4. There is NO rhyme or reason to the way that the NCAA makes decisions when violations occur.
5. But most importantly, how utterly ridiculous the NCAA is when it comes to its' handling of the Cam Newton case when you compare it to how UNC players were treated.(and players from other schools for that matter)
Quinn deserved to be penalized, but the NCAA chose to end his college career over his violations.
The NCAA told UNC that THEY had to make the decision on whether or not to play players who may or may not be declared ineligible down the road. UNC took the high road and suspended players.
In AU's case, the NCAA comes right out and declares Cam eligible after AU declared him ineligible. Not "you play him at your own risk," it's "he's eligible."
I know that this is all Germans, but the link is a good read and it is disgusting how pathetic the NCAA is when it comes to $$$$ and a Heisman frontrunner having an opportunity to compete for a championship.
So....all that shite and GEAUX DUCKS! Shatter their dreams!

The NCAA and SEC have handled this so poorly, its just hard to see them as a real governing body, anymore(as if they ever were-I know). College football took a step backwards in my eyes, this year.

It wasn't posted for delusional Auburn fans with no objectivity whatsoever to read.
So go read a different thread you dipshit.

Fell free to post this in the As the Plains burn thread and then you could hang out with other whiny fans and you'd be less likely to find folks mocking your ridiculously unoriginal thread. Or you could sack up and not get so pissy.

You're right, there is zero consistency and I guess we all woke up to it when suddenly someone who was playing for all the marbles got involved in a situation.

I agree again. I've always liked college football better than the NFL b/c of the illusion of amateurism.
The Newton thing just leaves everyone feeling like the whole season is a sham.

Well if it was an illusion then you knew it wasn't fact. Thus if anything this situation has introduced you to reality...based on the illusion factor.

I read about the first 135 pages of that thing over the last couple of weeks and nowhere in it did I see the specifics of the UNC players and their penalties for reference.
That's what the link contained, but you were more interested in dismissing the thread.
Whatever.

You're right...its a totally new subject. Not recycled at all. No one has discussed the discrepancies between the ncaa's handling of the unc and aub situation.
point being you can add to that thread. Quick question, whats the focus of that thread?

Right, we all knew that "things" go on, particularly at some of the biggest football powerhouses.
That said, with the USC sanctions and what was going on at UNC, there was the appearance that things may be under more scrutiny.
My issue is that we have an ADMISSION of slimy wrongdoing and the NCAA snaps its' neck looking the other way so as not to end up w/ a TCU in the title game. Insane.

That thread is all over the place....governors of Alabama and shite.
I wanted my own thread to narrow it down and b/c I'm special.
If you don't want to discuss it, hit the bricks and go back to being Lancelot the Defender of Cameron somewhere else.

General theme, sally specific.

The general theme of that thread is getting to the bottom of what happened in the Newton situation.
This thread is about what the NCAA DID do in the situation of a middle of the pack ACC school after the university cooperated completely vs. what did not happen at Auburn.
Is it starting to make sense now?

Plenty. It's about cam newton, the ncaa and how it was handled. you hit the nail on the head when you said you wanted your own thread, simple as that. But to deny it doesn't belong in that thread is foolish.

I'm pretty disappointed in the NCAA without a doubt and it may turn out that they never connect the dots in the Newton case.
I've just always had a pet peeve when someone types something like "novel, not a book."
If you don't want to read a thread, hit the back button.

That needs to be Tuna's sig line right there.

Now go and spend your valuable time telling the author of every thread that involves speculation about who will be Florida's next coach that there is already a thread about that topic.
I did say I wanted a separate thread...now go away!!

In all honesty, how often does that happen, i'd love a link to another one.
