It definitely makes me feel better about what Slive was doing if this is true. I've always thought he was a man of integrity. That's why this whole issue was so puzzling to me. It didn't mesh with what I've seen from him in the past. This makes perfect sense to me and I hope it's true.

Its desperation on the surface by auburn, but honestly its more than that. its ingrained corruption that has been allowed to go on for a long long time. The fact that Lowder and his businesses have literally controlled every aspect of Auburn University for so long is quite damning.

I'm sorry for the good people who are honest and love Auburn for what they think it is and should be. They deserve better. Unfortunately, it will take a complete tearing down and rebuilding from the top all the way down to gain back integrity and right standing.

pretty smart really, no Cam and they could get away with that all day.

Man, I would pay $200,00 to know when that will happen or a general time frame.

I still think this will be a long, wild ride before it ends.
I told friends when I saw that the FBI was involved that it will take some time for all of this to come to light, but when it does it will be a bombshell. I didn't know anything, but rest assured if the Feds are involved it's BIG.
Also, that's why all you hear are various rumors and such. The Feds will make things stay pretty hush-hush until indictments fall.

I think both the SEC and NCAA have no choice but to take it's time if any of this is tied to the FBI's case. That's why I expect Cam will keep playing unless AU decides to sit him.

exactly. And they won't sit him. This investigation will go into next year easily. The NCAA will take it's time and do a thorough investigation, they always have. I can't recall a single investigation that went quickly.

Hey y'all long time lurker, first time posting here at td. Just spent two days reading this monstrosity of epicness that is this thread so I had to join and post in here so I can say I was there. Burned a lot o time at work reading this. Well done everyone. This will make one hell of a book and movie when it's all said and done. A separate thread should be made for suggestions on what celebs will play the roles of all these sketchy characters.

Well the mere fact that if players were going to gamble at all at Victory land that is illegal since most of them are underage.

This whole thing is just unreal WOW. And the craziest thing is Born hinted at this. The only thing missing now is prostitution and the story is complete.

if the slots are rigged specifically for them I doubt its an issue for them to enter the casino, risky if the GC shows up randomly I guess.
The man in charge is aware of whats going on obviously, as im sure all the pit boss's etc.

that or an older player just does it for them.

Either way its not a bad idea

I was also told the reason Slive sat on the story is because the Feds made him. They were afraid if news leaked about Cam and illegal payments, that the people they were listening to would know their phones were tapped. I was told to expect all the information to be made public once the indictments are handed down.

I asked these questions yesterday on Tuna's new thread and did not recieve any info on them and hopping that maybe someone can answer them as close as possible if there is a question.

My question to you or to anyone who can answer my question;
How much of this did Mike Slive know last Saturday when Auburn made the decision to play Cam Newton and knowing that He had the powers to call Newton Ineligible to play?

A follow up;
If so can Auburn get out from under this to a lesser extent by Auburn saying then with Mike Slive being our Commissioner then can Auburn say that he should have told them that more was known and tell them for the good of the University that I am going to make you sit him and lay to some extent some of the blame on Mike Slive and the SEC Office?

All I am doing is asking that doesn't Mike Slive have the responsibility to do what is best for the University and the Conference and that by making him ineligible and Newton having to sit does exactly that? Isn't that in the SEC Bylaws?

Might not be up to yall yet but from what I have read all this will make Auburn a Community College instead of a 4 year University. There in a nutshell goes the Auburn Tigers/War Eagles/Plainsmen as we know them. Does anyone know who we can get to replace them next year so that we will not be a game shy on our schedules.

Who knows...It doesn't really matter IMO. IF he was told to keep quiet because of an ongoing investigation, he'd probably do it no matter how much he knew. FBI investigation >>> football. If he was ineligible, so be it.

This is what he has to follow according to the Bylaws he has pledged to uphold plus the link to all the Bylaws but, this is the main one I copied and posted.

LINK
4.4.2 Authority, Duties and Responsibilities.
(a) The Commissioner shall be charged with the duty of administering and enforcing the legislation of the Conference, and shall be vested with broad discretionary authority to carry out the duties of the office, including the assessment of penalties outlined in Article 4.4.3. Subject only to the review procedures established therein, the Commissioner shall have the duty to inspect, investigate and determine violations, and the authority to impose penalties and sanctions against member institutions, including their athletic staff members and their student-athletes, for practices and conduct which violate the spirit, as well as the letter of the Conference rules and regulations;
