Again, you simpleton. Your post stated “Walker never ran a 9.3.” That’s incorrect. No one including myself claimed it was a high school time. You must be the biggest dumbass this side of Joe Biden.

You didn't post...

Here’s a quote from his Wiki page…

He improved his high school 100-yard dash time of 9.5 to 9.3 seconds.

see that high school....well?

Dude, look big time track fan here, ok? Talking having it totally covered, like Lon Myers who held the American record in the 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and the mile, pre 1900. I know sprinting, ok guy?

Walker never ran a had timed 9.3, ok? YES... he did run an ELECTRIC 9.48 which is the equivalent to a HT 9.3.,,,ok?

Dude, don;t fight it, just....ok man didn't know that, thanks.

I mean besides you being a self proclaimed track and field expert, I see no proof of what you’re claiming. I provided a link from Wiki stating Walker ran a 9.3. You’ve provided nothing but your bullshite. In other words, I believe Wikipedia and not you! Here’s a direct quote from Wiki….
Walker also competed as a sprinter at the University of Georgia, where he was a two-time All-American selection. He was a member of the SEC champion 4 × 100 m relay squad in 1981.[19] He ran the 100 meters in a PR of 10.23 seconds in 1982 and also ran 10.10 seconds wind-assisted. He improved his high school 100-yard dash time of 9.5 to 9.3 seconds. He also competed in the 55-meter dash in 1983, recording a time of 6.11 seconds.[20]

Class is dismissed and your arse has failed

Dude, don't ignore yes you did mention he ran that in High School, ok? Don't gloss over it.

What is it you don't understand about Walker running a 9.48 ELECTRIC? He never actually ran a hand timed 9.3 guy, simply a fact.

Everybody into track knows all that stuff guy, old news.

We also know Walker never ran a hand timed 9.3 for a 100 yards.

Watch this slick...

1981 NCAA 4x1

(18 teams, 9 finalists; Q—40.54; no semis)
1. Northwestern Louisiana ........................................................39.32
(Victor Oatis, Joe Delaney, Mario Johnson, Mark Duper)
2. Georgia .................................................................................39.52

LINK

Here’s my OP..
That 10.23 time for 100 meter for Walker was from High School.
Herschel ran a 9.3 in the 100 yard

I never claimed the 9.3 was ran in HS. The 10.23 100 meter was information I got off the link I provided. Whether that was correct or not I have no idea?

You left off the fastest man, Leonard Scott.

When Leonard played WR/KR for Tennessee there were only about 3 people on Earth as fast as him. Literally three other people on the planet that fast.

One problem. Leonard couldn't catch.

Crazy fact for you, Scott and Holliday were from the same town in BR, Zachary. Both guys were absolute blazers who had questionable hands, but were fun as hell to watch.

The speed of Herschel Walker totally over hyped, yes for a guy his size he was fast but in with legit sprinters he was nothing special at all.

See that 4x1 relay above, well in that meet he ran the 100m he came in 7th, his best NCAA finish. Hell two other footballers beat him there.

"According to NFL's Next Gen Stats, Henry reached a top speed of 21.8 mph on the play, which is notable, because it's currently the FASTEST speed that any player in the NFL has reached this season. Before Henry's run, that honor belonged to Raiders receiver Henry Ruggs, who hit a top speed of 21.78 mph on a 51-yard catch against the Chargers in Week 4."
CBS Sports - Oct 19, 2021

Some just won't accept that Henry has absolutely elite top end. He takes a slight bit longer to get there, hence slower race times, but once he gets there, few can match it. He would never beat these guys listed in a foot race from a start, but can match most of these guys in flat out speed.

You also cannot compare a 400m runner to these guys, their top end may not be as high, but they are able to maintain it much longer than just about anyone.

If you change the benchmark, you can rank any of these at the top of you find their strength and the others weakness.

A 9.3 for a HS kid in the 70's....dude, come on guy. And yes you mentioned high school and trust me after 1976 the NCAA didn;t run the 100 yards anymore, it was the 100m all electric timing.

Time to.....ok thanks I learned something appreciate it, thanks.

Derrick Henry wouldn't be in the top 100 fastest running backs, trust me if talking the history of the fast running back. And no he can;t match the top end speed of any 9.5/10.4 cat.

Dying for somebody to....oh yeah well list them.

I just contacted the editor of Track & Field News magazine about this 9.3 Walker thing, waiting his response.

There is no stat/time they aren't aware of, that is their business.

I own them all since 1966, nowhere do we see a 9.3 for Herschel Walker, trust me a high school kid running a 9.3 in the 70;s would be big news, HUGE...yep, never happened.

The HS record was 9.3 Walker never tied the record.
