They are not down now. With that Defense and the offense seeming to get a grasp of what they are doing, they are gonna be tough the rest of the year

I don't think ya'll understand what I'm saying.

Until this year, Auburn could always count on having the inside track in the West every other year. Now, they don't have that. LSU doesn't have that burden of never beating AU at AU. Considering we're consistently a more talented team, that's huge.

What if Bama beats AU this year? Bama looks very good so far, and if they beat AU, what does AU have left to hold on to? They're already being dominated in recruiting in state, so if they actually lose to Bama and LSU in the same year, ending both streaks, what do they have to build on? They don't have better players, and they won't have that psychological advantage over either team.

Now, I'm not saying that AU is suddenly going to win 6 games a year, but they're about to be the 3rd best team in the West.

They could come to TS next year and beat LSU!!

Not sure about that as well!! They have a new OC and are tryin to change the offense. It takes time to get players in that can be effective in the spread. They will compete for the West for years to come.

Unless their skill position players morph into LSU's players, and LSU's players get arrested prior to the game, I doubt it.

Bama has competed for the West for years now too, but has never won it.

Do me a favor and tell me the last time Bama won the SEC West.

2007? No
2006? No
2005? No
2004? No
2003? No

They have competed the last five years and won a total of ZERO SEC West titles.

It's like saying LSU never wins in Auburn. Of course they have, but they don't do it often. (prior to last night)

All the way around, I couldn't DISAGREE with this post any more......Auburn beat us in 2005.....did that mean the downfall for us??? I don't think anything can be determined until after the whole 2008 season is over, and until Bama beats Auburn, this is all pure speculation.

Auburn isn't going anywhere near South,at least for more than a year at a time. Saban at Alabama doesn't = the end of Auburn anymore than him at Alabama means LSU will suffer (we've really fallen off the face of the Earth since he left )

The SEC is just brutal . Look at 2006. Florida is National Champion. LSU is ranked 3rd in both major polls. But,we were also 3rd in the SEC WEST that fall, too.

You're missing the point, losing at AU in 2006 was part of the trend that gave them an upperhand over us. Of course Arky won the West that year, but when AU beats us at home, they typically have the inside track. They never have the inside track when they play us on the road, and if we start beating them there, they'll never have the inside track. Theoretically speaking, LSU will have the inside track in the West for 3 straights years (2007 (beat AU, 2008 (beat AU), 2009 (have AU at home). With the emergence of Bama, that makes it even worse.

Yeah i think Tubberville's career there has clearly peaked, they'll still be tough, but with Alabama coming around i think they might replace AU as one of the two top teams in the west.

You stating that just because we defeated Auburn this marks their downfall is speculation at best. We beat a damn good Auburn team....especially on defense. Until Bama beats Auburn, Auburn isn't going anywhere...period
