Oklahoma made it to the playoff and they wouldn't have otherwise.
Suppose that's not a route, but I don't see where beating Alabama by less is better.

A loss is a loss. By 1 pt or 35 pts it doesn't matter, you still lost. Some of the players are graduating, some are heading to the NFL and some will transfer. Hopefully the players and coaches that stay will have night terrors all off season thinking about the beat downs they took against Indiana, Georgia and FSU. Everyday they wake up from their night terror in a pool of sweat, get up and spend the rest of the day doing everything they can to prevent ever having to experience beat downs like that again.

What I get from your post is that, this season, Alabama was routed by FSU, Georgia and Indiana. And these teams that routed Alabama are not that good.
