On a positive story about fans working together, in 98 I think LSU played Auburn at Jordan Hare and tickets opened up few hours before the game right behind the LSU bench. I grabbed them up and had a few extras which I offered to my Auburn buddies, and they all declined one of them saying that’s going to be right in the sun. I didn’t understand what he meant at first.
Anyway, it was the hottest mfering damn game I have ever been too, it had to be 110 or more on the field. It was so fricking hot that everyone who went to the concession stands brought back as much bottled watered as they carry and just gave it out to everyone sitting around them. Auburn people would hand out to LSU fans and vice versa, it was like a matter of survival. People looked like they were going to pass out.
About the start of 4th quarter I went up to take a leak and buy as much water as I could carry back to everyone and they said the entire stadium was out of water. We watched on TVs under the stadium and I said let’s just go watch the end at my son’s apartment. Of course, we missed most of a great LSU comeback but saw the last minute or so.
Props to both of teams from being able to play in that sauna. I remember them having to change cleats on the LSU side at least as they were sticking to the grass or something it was so hot.
I also remember these Auburn fans just constantly harassing the frick out of this LSU player that was closest to us forever until he finally turned around and said “ Hey man, I am just the punter. All I do is kick the ball” to which everyone laughed, including the guys that had been heckling him.
Another reason day games suck

Thats what it felt like when i was a kid, everyone in country seemed to still be together
Then one run in with one bad apple pretty much opened my eyes and sucked me into a whole other world of manipulation and distrust
I always wonder if id never met that one guy would we’d all still be like family?
