Lsu played 5 teams that ended the 2007 season in the top 20 during the 2007-2008 season. SC played only one team that ended the year in the top 20!!!!!! Looking at the current standings, LSU is scheduled to play 3 top 20 teams next year - SC is scheduled to play only 1.

How about this...
For LSU to have gone to the NC this year we would have had to have won all/nearly all of these games:
Georgia
Alabama
Florida x2
Auburn
FIVE games against teams ranked in the TOP TEN at one point in the season. Sure, some didn't belong there, but that was usually determined by losses to other SEC teams. Additionally, we would hae faced another top 10 while playing the national champ, and Ole Miss will be close to the top 10 by the last poll.
This isn't bragging on LSU, so don't remind me of how we fared against these teams (although only UF really owned us); rather this is just the kind of schedule we in the SEC face more or less annually.
Show me another conference where NC = 6 games against top 10 opponents.
ETA: I forgot to mention 5 of those 6 would have been ranked #1 at some point.

quote:Listen fellar, I'll say it one more time...THE ONLY poll that's valid is the final one and don't gimme the we beat up on each other crap. Do you not believe that other conferences play in-conference, too? We don't even play every team in our conference- the PAC10 does.

Not following your point, but if only final polls count, then....

Here, get this. In looking at how strong our schedule was last year, consider this. (Keep in mind this includes the NC game but it works for your argument LAST year).
2007-2008 Record vs. Teams
Team Finishing in AP Top 15
LSU 5-0
Georgia 2-1
Southern Cal 0-0
Ohio State 0-1
West Virginia 1-0
Kansas 1-1
Missouri 1-2
Oklahoma 1-1

LSU played OSU to a draw a few years back on their home field and doesn't have the guts to play on the West Coast. They don't. They don't have the guts to come out West and play someone in the non-conference.
Actually we won that game as there is no "draw" or "tie" in CFB since the mid 90s
I guess he likes to ignore the fact LSU recently went out to BOTH Arizona (2003) and Arizona State (2005) to play games...also are traveling to Washington (2009).

The SEC non-conference schedule is a joke
It USED to be but this is getting old. It's not anymore. It's not any worse than the other major conferences except the P10 and ACC who have to schedule tough OOC because no one respects them much to begin with. LSU's sucked this year but that's an exception. We played Va Tech last year.

I'm asking them to play at least one legit non-conference game every year.
And most SEC teams do that every year, sometimes 2 teams. Once again, he's ignoring the facts.

And when they do play someone decent, they don't exactly roll up anyone big.
Yes. The SEC never plays anyone OOC and they never beat them, right

Nice job by Georgia a couple years ago against Colorado huh? Barely escaped.
LOL @ complaining about close wins. This is when you know someone is reaching.

Georgia squeaks by one of the worst Pac 10 teams in ASU this year.
LOL @ a 17 point win being "squeaking by" someone.
quote:I wonder why he doesn't mention Cal's 10 point win over ASU or Oregon State's 2 point win over ASU...hmmm....
A team Oregon destroyed And on, and on, and on.
