You said that you werent religious but you seem convinced how a church congregation would respond?

Yes, because fundamentalists (like yourself) are the most judgmental fricks on the planet, unless of course it can somehow benefit themselves and then they only pass judgement when they think no one else besides their little circle is listening. They pretend to be apathetic in front of the sinners face, but as soon as they get behind closed doors, the truth will come out of them. Most of them have the "I'm holier and better than you" vibe. Not that all of them are this way, but the vast majority of them are, and a ton of them have gigantic skeletons in their closet that are as bad or worse as the person they are judging.

That's a canned response towards religion. Yeah, folks who are religious still sin. Just because they try to spread the word about not sinning doesn't mean they don't and doesn't mean they're being judgemental. Just trying to express their views about things. It's like the folks that go to church and get pissed because the preacher preaches about alot of vices and such. Folks take it personal, but that is what the teachings are. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean folks are thinking they are better.

people of religion always think they are better than another group. whether you are baptist or catholic, or christian or jewish

Not true. I think sometimes folks feel guilty and try to hold others to a higher standard so they can tear down more. Everyone falls short.

I dont think he was a religious person. I think he was using it to try to justify his position in allowing the fella in.

i agree in part with that. All religions have their people that think they are better than others and some actually have true good people in them. I was raised catholic and went to a baptist school so ive had plenty of interaction with lots of religious people so far in life. Some have had that attitude of being better and some have been truly good people. I judge people by actions and their intent. I think religion is silly and if a god exist he would hate most religions as its all about money and power and not god.

I can excuse this since it makes no mention of his history with the rape. People are far too positive in this board, and at least a few would mention the rape.

I'm a believer, and I do agree with this part. Unfortunately, alot of it comes down to this. I miss the old days and small town church I used to go to.

say you are religious, you are obviously stating that everyone who does not agree with your religious views are wrong. in some cases this makes people believe they are better than the next. growing up in GA this was very evident when it mattered what church you belonged to. didnt matter what religion you were it matter that you were a member of this church that cost this much more than that one to be a part of.

But Holy shite at what Hank209 posted:

"Great kid from a great family! We could use more like him!"

Now we've had some defenders here, but to call a person who raped his cousin a "great kid". Holy frick. This person better be talking out of his arse and not know shite about the players.

Therein lies the mistake made by many, imo. While it's true many people are like that, it is not a true reflection of a christian, because Christianity teaches selflessness and folks that do that are not doing what they should be. Using others' failings shouldn't be an excuse to not do better yourself, imo. (and I'm not looking down at anyone.. I fall wayyyyyyy short of where I should be myself.)
