I always liked Chavis. But his tendency to drop into soft coverage at the worst possible times used to drive a lot of us crazy. Georgia in 2001 and UCLA in 2008 were good soul-crushing examples.
For what it's worth, I also remember a healthy number of LSU fans decrying third and Chavis in 2009. Of course LSU's defense is now freakishly good.

I remember when Les hired Chavis a good portion of our fans bitched on here(BillJ most notably)

Third and Chavis can be crushing at times, almost season crushing. I think it was your opener at Washington his first game where you saw it pretty prominently. I'm not sure when he stopped using it, but it looks like he finally did.
