I’m so tired of ESPN acting like it’s the end of the world or that conference championship games are going to be eliminated if they keep someone out of the playoffs. Here’s a list of times that has already happened:
2001 #2 Tennessee loses to LSU
2008 #1 Alabama loses to UF
2009 #1 UF loses to Alabama
2017 #4 Auburn loses to UGA. Alabama makes the playoffs despite losing to Auburn the week before!!
2018 #4 UGA loses to Alabama
2019 #4 UGA loses to LSU
2023 #1 UGA loses to Alabama
So yeah, leaving Bama out because they looked like crap in the last week of the season would be totally fair by the committee

Honestly, the idea that FSU could be penalized for winning a conference championship game but Bama couldn’t be penalized for losing makes even less sense.
