and yet they've still proven very adept t predicitn succss. Look at SEC reords from 2002-2010 and you will find they match up very wll with that particular teams recruiting rankings.
Again, it's not that hard to see talent, they just make their rankings close to cut down on being wrong.

A number 1 class is generally reason to celebrate, as is a top 5 or even top 10.
If you are a fan? Yes. But that holds no merit outside of fans. Do you think coaches brag about recruiting titles to other coaches? No, because it doesn't mean shite.

Top talent is what you keeps you on top. no on cares about midling teams outside the top 25
And it does, but why does every need a opinion from someone on a site who has as much experience as the reader? Is that fact that the coach wants him not good enough?

everything else? What else? whether 1 2-star out of a hundred becomes elite? your finishing place in the recruiting rankings is a great indicator of where you are in the conference.
Everything after what they rank 5*s, recruiting sites have gone on record to say that get a bit lazy after the elite prospects. Do coaches? I don't believe it.

as are the coaches. (see Javy) The fact is, if you're getting your butt kicked in the recruiting rankings, your not competing consistently in your conference.
Javy wasn't a missed talent, he was made what he is by coaching. He had no position out of HS, a raw athlete.
If you are a good coach, you get good recruits. Why must people put there faith in a guy with no experience over an actual head coach?

"You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shite"- Paul Bryant. Coaches know they need top talent to succeed.

Not always, no. especially with new coaches (see Gene Chizik) or coaches that you assume could recruit better (see Bobbie petrino). Gene Chizik attracted a shitload better tlent thn people thought he could and Petrino has not attrated near as much talent as people thought he could.

Alot of kids go to college without a position (see BJ Scott). Many "Atheletes" are tken every year (and many are highly rated). If a kid ends up all american, he was a missed talent, no matter how good his coaching was.

Petrino hasn't exactly gotten the best of the best, nor has Spurrier (at least on a consistent basis).

because many times the actual head coach can't GET who he REALLY WANTS. See Petrino sine he's been at Arkansas and Jim Tressel last year.
