You do realize that a large portion of athletic depts run in the red. So you are going to ask schools that are not making money to start paying players. Also if you start to play football players, chances are you will then be forced to pay all players ( basketball, tennis, track, baseball, golf etc ) That would be allot of money to pay out especially for those programs that do not turn a profit.

Spurrier would ask for this. It passes and he retires in two years to Augusta National while other coaches are stuck paying players.

I'm not saying it was a good idea, i just said i'm not against it.
OK, so another question.
Unlike players like Reggie bush, the non-award winners. if the NCAA finds out after they go pro that they received improper benefits, what happens? of course the award winners will be stripped of their awards, but what about the others?

Award winners are stripped of their awards at the descretion of the awarding body, not the NCAA.
But noting happens to the players after they go pro. The NCAA has no say at that point.

fIrst tor those linking the coaches who agree including miles and Saban among others these coaches are going to agree simply because they are on the recruiting trail and this is what the kids will want to hear. Second what happens when baseball and basketball want to be paid or gym or swim team and remember before you say the money comes from the football program and will be for fb players only, doesn't the fb programs pay for all of theses other sports as well. You know it is only a matter of time before the other athletes whine about fairness and what about the smaller schools like Vandy and I am not sure about their revenue but could either of the MS schools or Aubrn or SC afford this. This sets up too much to the advantages of the Texas, Alabamas and LSU of cfb it will not be feasable for teams that don't clear the revenue of the larger programs.

help deter them from taking money
I'm not hatin, if I was football player I'm sure I'd want as much money as I could get. But paying 3000 or so more a season is not going to stop any kid from taking another 10k to 100k from an agent or anyone else. If someone offers me money, I'm going to take it whether I really need it or not.

I'm not against players getting "donations", They need to be rewarded for being great
Like the other dude said, they get (at LSU) almost 17k a year in benefits tax free. I'd be happy with that. And I also think the more money they get they have control over at that age is bad news bears. And take into consideration gifts for bowl games and every other "oh you're an LSU football player? Don't worr about paying for that" sort of things
