I’m not a huge BK fan but we’ve won a lot games with buffoon coaches before. Even championships.

This is true.
Ed O is like Phillip Fulmer in 1998. So much talent they won a national championship in spite of him.
You give a good game day coach the talent Fulmer had 1995-2003, and he will win 4 or 5 NCs.
1997, 1998, 1999, 2001. Absolutey no excuse for not winning at least 3 NCs in those years.
Sometimes a bad game day coach will hold back the talent. Brian Kelly is one of those coaches.

Not sure why that matters considering you’re basing Hugh being better based on a body of work that’s a decade plus old.
If you want to cancel out that and venables’ experience as a DC, you have one year to compare and in that one year, Venables was better.
