Why is Georgia Southern even relevant to a discussion about how spread offenses will soon dominate the best defensive units in the SEC?

I was curious myself, so I googled triple option vs. spread offenses. Wikipedia lists them in the same article on option offenses, so they must use the same kind of defense.
I think Nick Saban better read up so that he'll know what he is dealing with.

There are different spreads.. The richrod/meyer spread is a run first read option spread that does play on the old triple option to some extent. The QB still watches some key defenders actions to determine some of his "reads" and decisions as to who he is going to give the ball to. This spread has evolved to incorperate far more passing to open things up.
The Air Raid, texas tech style spread is a passing spread that uses up tempo and timing routes and quick reads in a short passing game to open up the whole field. Leach actually said that he counted his screens as run plays back when he was at tech. Holgerson, Kingsberry, Gundy and I think Pinkle run this variation.
I wish there was a football school that would teach everyone wtf is going on for the folks that never played. It would help people understand how friggen tough it is to play defense, and how outstanding LSU and Bama have been over the last few years.
Air raid spread from Southlake Carrol HS in dallas.
Playbook

I was just mocking the OP. I had brothers and a dad who made sure I knew the various schemes and basics. And my brother used to justify beating me up by teaching me how to tackle. I can still throw a mean spiral that came in handy during my sorority powder puff days.

Yep, the same Georgia Southern team that scored more points against Alabama in one quarter than LSU did in eight quarters.
What genius at LSU came up with the idea to run the option in the BCSNC game?
