Honest discussion about football doesn’t generate clicks. Look at all the other football message boards that have died in the last 10 years because they removed the trolls and wanted pure and reasonable football content. Trolling generates clicks, that supports ads, that pay for the site. Honest football discussion should happen on team sites with mods that can and do gatekeep the trolls. The main board is just a minor revenue stream.

I would like to allow gamethreads in the Vol board be open to opposing fans that want to talk about the game and will likely try it but I doubt more than 2 or week fans a week really want that.

Maybe. I would be curious to see it. I saw one Georgia fan say something very complimentary in a recruiting thread congratulating the Vols on a pickup. ( I think it was Sanders, the OT) Rob jumped all over him insulting him and talking about some investigation and calling Kirby Bowlcut, etc.

Legit points. But i would rather discuss rather than talk to somebody like RobVol or Blackadder who troll constantly and struggle to write a coherent sentence. Although, I do think I saw Blackadder have a legit post or two.

It's a great idea, but people would probably quickly devolve into insults and trolls....and I don't mean Tennessee fans necessarily, but the visitors. Somebody will say something crowing when their team makes a good play then somebody takes a shot at them, then away you go.

But, if you have the patience, I would be curious to see how it plays out.

If/when we the traffic I would love to see a recruiting thread and a roster thread. But right now it’s 5 posters in a slow week before the season starts.
