There is a very simple solution to all of this transfer portal, NFL, NIL mess. 5 year’s eligibility AND the players have to meet minimum transfer requirements like most schools do with regular students. Minimum of 12 hours per semester with a 2.0 GPA. Make these supposed “student” athletes…student athletes again. Let the NFL set up a minor league like the MLB and the NBA instead of making the universities their free farm system. It’s a win/win for everyone. More kids might actually get educated. The universities are not on the hook for some dumbass whose family, agent, camp is holding schools hostage. The freeloading billionaire NFL owners instead of the taxpayers pay for the majority of misguided athletes that will never see a NFL game on the field. Hundreds of millions of dollars would be saved because ineligible players would have two options: low pay at a minor league or get an education while being well paid at a reputable school.

Exactly! Those that don’t come for the school…shouldn’t be able to take advantage of the schools money, training facilities, coaches, etc…let ‘em go to the minor leagues like baseball and basketball players do. Let the billionaire NFL owners pick up the tab.
