Miss State under Croom

When did this happen? The only game I remember UAB playing against Miss State was in 2010, and UAB lost (29-24).

That's not a link showing me that UAB football is draining the UA system.

Even if it is true, the UA system couldn't survive without UAB, so they should get what they please.

Except Boise has California to recruit from and TCU has Texas. Its not like UAB is gonna start taking the top 10 instate kids from Bama and AU, and theyre sure as shite not gonna be able to recruit out of state.

Use google sometime.

quote:

There's the rub. UAB, like most Football Bowl Subdivision schools, hemorrhages money largely due to football.

The Blazers lost $1.7 million on football in 2009-10, according to UAB's latest NCAA financial report, not counting subsidies from the university as revenue. That also doesn't include student-fee revenue, which wasn't allocated in the report to any particular team. UAB's athletics department lost $13.8 million -- 40 percent more than just four years earlier.

The department received $14.2 million in subsidies last year, including $3.5 million in student fees. The university provided $10.5 million directly to athletics last year, a 41 percent increase from four years earlier.

Subsides accounted for 59 percent of the athletics department's total operating revenue last year, up from 53 percent in 2005-06. Meanwhile, donations to UAB football dropped 26 percent from four years earlier.

Its not about the top talent... It's about coaching the talent up.. When UAB starts to win games the recruiting will come to them

Sorry, should have added "at the level they would need to". They can pull all the 3 stars out of wherever they want, but that isnt gonna get them to the next level.

You mean the medical school. Regardless, The University of Alabama is the largest employer in the state of Alabama. That's UA-Tuscaloosa.

Have you seen boise states recruits? most of them are 3 stars if UAB got to consecutive bowl games they would be able to recruit at the top of C-USA easily.
