He came within a gnat's arse of winning a national championship with a roster of three stars this year
He's a good coach but this is an exaggeration.

quote:How many coaches in the Great and All Powerful SEC came as close? Big 12? ACC? Did he have a team loaded with 5-star players at Washington? If he was able to recruit the 5-stars there, he should do quite well at Bama.

He didn't come especially close to winning a title, that game was complete dominanation.

No, he had a very similar roster to Missouri or Ole Miss.
It's fairly easy to imagine either of those teams making the natty through the Pac 12 as well.
He's a really good coach but 2023 is being exaggerated a bit due to recency bias.

Same can be said for Sonny Dykes the year prior.

Think either of those could be Texas, that beat the SEC Champion Alabama?
Sure, they both had better pass defenses.

He isn't comparable to Harsin, he is more like a younger version of Brian Kelly.

DeBoer is a good coach, he has won everywhere he's been and will now have a talent advantage to many teams he faces.
There are 3 major questions he has to answer, IMO
1. What will his offense look like in the SEC? It has historically averaged #4 in passing yards and #94 in rushing yards. Can that work in the SEC?
2. Can he field a good defense at the P5 level?
3. Can he recruit good enough to sustain the talent at Alabama?

Day one of the debober hire, all the bama fans left. Now they act like the guy has won the SEC already.
