They assume they will be better since their backup came in for a game and carved up auburn.

Has more to do with Mallett being a roller coaster and the backups being very consistent. Mostly, return of Dennis Johnson, a full season with Knile Davis and younger receivers stepping up while keeping Childs and Adams.

We lose DJ Williams but Gragg is a nice replacement.

Offense will be fine.

What factual evidence leads you to believe LSU will be better next year?

QB play? Offense is stellar? Defense is stellar? Stops the run well? Stops the pass well?

I'm scratching my head here.....

We will return 16 starters and a ton of other guys that saw extensive playing time. When that happens teams usually don't get worse.

LSU should be better at every single position other than DT next year. Losing Peterson and Sheppard will hurt, but the overall experience and depth at LB and in the secondary should be better.

Patrick Peterson is an absolute game changer and a worthy All-American. How you expect to have an upgrade with his departure is beyond me; even an AA caliber replacement would only be effectively treading water.

Yeah, I know you get a lot of players back. I was trying to egg on that other douche more than anything mallet honestly doesn't wow me, so the backup might honestly do better. I just wish our coaches knew what prevent was so they wouldn't have given him an easy td.

I think Arkansas will be a contender, big time. I know no one wants to hear it, but we have a lot of people returning. I see that some people post that thinks that since Mallett is gone that we will have trouble on the O, but this isn't the case. Mallett may actually be a thorn in our side, he has a cannon arm, but he's emotional and makes a lot of mistakes, Wilson is poised and very accurate, plus, Wilson is mobile.

The bad part for the rest of the SEC, he may not even be our best QB come next year.

Arkansas loses 3 starters from the OL, including both OT's.

I thought it was 2?

Who steps up? Oden (or is he Dline)?

We obviously won't have an upgrade with his replacement. But it will not be a surprise to see an overall better performance from the secondary. He is the only loss.

At his one CB position, yes. But if there's a marginal decline at his spot while an improvement at the other CB spot, an improvement in the backups, and the safeties are better it shouldn't be a huge issue. Losing his return skills will probably hurt more.

Bama loses 3 games again maybe even 4. New QB no Julio and possibly Maze. Haven't seen any WR on the roster that can come close to wearing those shoes. Still no dominant DL waiting in the wings either.

Unbelievable play at half. I was kinda stunned.

I actually agree with this. I think the West will come down to LSU, Bama, Arkansas next year. All 3 should be great teams just like this season

eta: I really think the West will come down to LSU/Arky unless Saban does one of his best coaching jobs ever

this is every fanbases thought process. You cant take one half of a game and try predict the rest of the year. One example is gilbert at texas (see national championship game). Another is florida fans were claiming this all last year with brantley

Greyson, Love, and everyone's favorite False Start-er....Dominguez.

The upside: our backup center has gotten some solid experience, and played reasonably well-- the bad is that our backup tackles have not been impressive, in mop up duty.

Oden will probably see the field at one tackle position; with Wilson and Mitchell both being infinitely more mobile than Mallett, I expect a lot more of the roll out type game that you saw from the Louisville era Petrino offenses.
