Be sure to cherry-pick stats to support your argument. We all know if we looked at all-time, Arkansas basketball blows Bammer basketball away. Y’all have one (1) Elite 8. That’s the pinnacle of Alabama basketball. No Final Fours. Arkansas has accomplished more in the past few years than Alabama has its entire program existed.

I’m not pretending that conference titles are the be all end all. I’d give up every conference title we’ve won to make a final four.
There ya go. Now stop acting like conference titles actually matter.
UConn’s last two national title seasons were minus conference championships.
Conference titles are meaningful in football because the national title races boils down to conference winners in the P5. It’s just simply different in basketball and baseball.
My initial response to the Alabama poster in this thread, who made a comment about Oates winning possibly his third conference regular season title…at some point Bama fans have to agree and expect some sort of results in the NCAAt right? Or are Bama fans happy with not a single Elite 8 game in his tenure? Elite 8 games are where you’ve got a shot at the Final Four, which to me trumps anything a conference title brings to a program.
I’m sure Tennessee fans feel the same way about Barnes. They’re probably not too much worried about a conference title and would prefer to make an Elite 8 with a chance to make a Final Four, and be perfectly fine with a top half of conference finish.
And again, it’s all relative…an SEC West title means more to our football program than it does to yours. An SEC basketball title is going to mean more to Mississippi State this year than Kentucky or Arkansas, and even Alabama.

It seems like the regular season was more fun when Kentucky was good and was the bad guy. As much as I disliked seeing them rolling through the conference it sure made for some exciting games for us.
