Arkansas & Mississippi State have one (1) more invite than appearances. In 1942, Arkansas was invited to the NCAAt but due to a car accident involving multiple players, Arkansas could not play. In 1959, Mississippi State was invited to play in the NCAAt, but due to racial tensions and playing teams that had African Americans, the university president of Mississippi State would not let his teams play. At Mississippi State in 1963, the Bulldog team snuck out in the middle of the night to play anyway.

This is a really good story that should be highlighted more.

That crap really hurt our basketball programs trajectory. We had a really nice basketball program in the late 50’s early 60’s led by Bailey Howell and great coach Babe McCarthy
