I was just about to point that out. It probably helps to be the whipping boy in the Memphis or Shreveport bowls of the world vs Sugar, Orange, Rose or other bowls of substance.

Pipe down Les. They line em up and OM knocks em down.

Another thing to consider is the amount of bowl games that were even available to play in before the current glut of available bowls. Wins and appearances in these bowls all hold more weight and are evidence of those participant teams being legit. Even bowls that many of us gen x and younger that are not immediately recognizable as a major bowl may very well have been legit back in the day due to the much smaller availability of bowls back then.

Also there are other things to consider that are probably too much work to figure out such as bowls that featured teams like the Josh Heiple (sp?) Oklahoma team in the 99 independence that OM beat that won the national championship the next year with many of the same players. Crappy bowl but Oklahoma and OM were probably better than the record and bowl suggested.

Both of these factors apply to all of our teams also so there's that as well.

The universities that have winning bowl records also are in states with the highest percentage of white trash.
